Rasco was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana — in the middle of the largest oil and gas producing region in the country. We didn't build FR workwear for the oil and gas industry from the outside. Industrial Laundry Programs — refinery and petrochemical programs specify industrial laundry compatibility because FR garments go through commercial washing that destroys standard cotton. Our Westex® UltraSoft® 88/12 uniform shirts and pants (88% cotton, 12% nylon, made in the USA) are specified by industrial laundry programs for exactly this reason — the nylon content adds durability that survives repeated commercial washing without breaking down. Hi-Vis Dual Compliance — for pipeline and road-adjacent operations where FR and ANSI visibility compliance are both required. What FR standard applies to oil & gas workers? NFPA 2112 governs flash fire protection — the primary hazard in oil and gas environments. NFPA 70E governs arc flash protection. Most oil and gas programs require compliance with both. Every garment in this collection carries NFPA 2112 certified by UL and meets NFPA 70E.
Does my coverall need to be NFPA 2112 certified? Yes — in virtually every oil and gas program. NFPA 2112 is the flash fire standard specifically written for the hydrocarbon industry. "Meets NFPA 70E" alone is not sufficient for most oil and gas programs; NFPA 2112 UL certification is required.
What's the difference between NFPA 2112 and NFPA 70E? NFPA 2112 covers flash fire hazards — the rapid, engulfing flame exposure common in hydrocarbon environments. NFPA 70E covers arc flash hazards from electrical equipment. Oil and gas workers typically face both hazards and need garments certified to both standards. All garments here carry both.
Can I wear my FR coverall through industrial laundering? It depends on the fabric. Our GlenGuard® inherent aramid and 88/12 Westex UltraSoft garments are specifically rated for industrial laundering. Standard FR cotton twill garments are home washable but may not meet industrial laundry program specifications. Check the care label and program requirements.
