Straight talk first: this vest is brand new and fully functional. The zipper developed cosmetic tarnish in storage — it works exactly as it should, it just has a darkened finish instead of a bright one. That's the only thing "Retro" about it.
Now the part that matters: 38 cal/cm² arc rating (ATPV), CAT 3 — the same protection level as our canvas field jackets, in a vest, for $60. And every layer earns its place: a 10 oz FR Flameshield® shell, 3 oz FR modacrylic insulation, and a 7.5 oz FR Flameshield® cotton twill lining — all three layers FR, all the way through.
The vest format does something a jacket can't: full arm mobility, no sleeve bulk, harness-compatible, and easy to pull on and off as the temperature changes through a shift. For cold mornings on the job when you still need CAT 3 overhead, this is the layer.
